Your product's name and description are your first opportunity to inform and excite buyers. Writing a good name and description will significantly increase the chances of your listing being found.
Here are some tips you should consider when writing your product name:
- Use multiple, descriptive keywords that clearly convey what you are selling.
- Include item-specific attributes. For example, if selling a dress, include size, color and material.
- State exactly what your item is, even if your product name repeats the category name.
- Use correct spelling.
- Omit punctuation marks (such as periods and commas) and special characters (such as asterisks). Search results may be negatively impacted by the use of non-essential punctuation or characters in a product name.
Here are some questions you should consider when writing your product description:
- What is the product?
- What material is it made of?
- What sizes/colors is it available in?
- What company/artist/designer/author made it?
- What are its dimensions?
- Are there any flaws in the product's condition?
- What country/location is it from?
- Does it have any notable features?

Products are listed by category on SourceBook, so one of the easiest ways you can help buyers find your product is by choosing the right category for it. When you select the most appropriate category to list your product in, it is much more likely your product will be found by buyers who have genuine interest in what you are selling.
-
Use the product order specifications field to indicate how your product is sold (by the case, by the pallet, by the truck, etc.) and/or how many units the buyer must purchase (minimum 10 units, minimum two cases, etc.). These are just examples; please include any relevant order requirements in this field.
-
Many buyers search for products based on price. You can include the price of an item in U.S. Dollars (USD) or in another currency. For USD, please use a decimal to indicate dollars and cents (for example: 10.00, 6.99, 215.00, 0.89, 0.05).
-
You can enter up to three keywords for your product. A keyword is a one- to five- word phrase that can be used in a search. Entering relevant keywords will help buyers find your product when they search SourceBook. A rule of thumb is that the more specific your keyword or phrase is, the greater the chance that a serious buyer will use it in their product search.

You are required to include at least one image with every product listing. However, you can include up to four images. Make sure your images are very clear and large in size, showing your product in detail. If buyers can get a strong sense of a product?s look, feel and quality through the images provided, they will be much more likely to send you an inquiry.
